It is typical for a piece to require new foam seat cores and backs filled or changed out. These are in addition to the upholstery cost. Any wood touch-up and sealing is additional to the upholstery cost. The upholstery cost is to take the old fabric off and put the new fabric on. The fabric cost is in addition to the upholstery cost and varies due to the type of fabric desired.

We can create hand-made head boards, special sizes and resizing over-sized items.  Any special space requirements, banquette styles can be created and we can find code compliant fabric to coordinate with the decor.

 

CUSHIONS… yes, we do cushion foam replacement or fill adjustment! We need one of the set of cushions brought in to measure dimensions in order to give an estimate and order the foam. It brings the sofa or chair back to life!

THINGS TO CONSIDER…

Upholstery is a time learned hand crafted skill. It is not inexpensive…

but it is recycling, reusing and reducing waste for the world.

What is the project? A chair?

Need photo (full front view with good lighting) and dimensions. We are looking for the fabric part of the piece for fabric yardage estimates. Cushion dimensions are taken from welting or seam to the other welting or seam. It makes a price difference if the seat cushion is 2” or 4” high.

Next, think about how comfortable is it to sit in. How old is the chair? Old foam looses its bounce and deteriorates over time. This is an added cost to the project so this needs an estimate if you want it changed out. Foam needs to be paid for prior to beginning the project.

Then, the fabric needs to be chosen and ordered. Fabric prices range, so if there is a budget concern, plan for this. The durability and use needs to be thought of when purchasing fabric. How is the piece going to be used, how often and in which room? Fabric can either be purchased elsewhere or at Bayside Furniture. It is an extra cost added to the upholstery price. Fabric needs to be paid for at the time it’s ordered.

Also, the time to do these things are when it’s being upholstered… so if it’s unstable, needs securing or anything fixed… do it now. We can touch-up the wood and seal it to improve the appearance of the piece… however, we do not refinish.
